I'm visiting Palm Springs from september 29 to October 6 and are looking for a place to stay.

Does anybody know about this hotels, is it a nice place to stay, clean, near downtown.

Here information on the hotels you inquired about...

Ok Logic does visit properties in Palm Springs and writes about these visits from time to time.

We are not advertising these properties however we can ask questions and see things that they do not tell or share with you with a total unbiased opinion about these properties.

We are escorted to each type of room available for you to choose from.

We meet the staff and we review everything from the parking lot lighting, security, cleanliness, overall feeling of comfort then writing about what we see and, not what we are told by the owners or staff of these properties.

Our visit to the Royal Sun Inn in south Palm Springs went well and here is our findings.

There are 66 rooms and suites available to you.

4 rooms are suites.

2 suites have a full kitchen.

2 suites have a chacuzzi.

The Royal Sun Inn staff is very friendly.

It is located in a very quite and peaceful because of its location off of the main street Palm Canyon Drive through or city.

The property has a very security conscious approach as there are cameras located all over the public areas of the property even though this south end of Palm Springs is already a very safe part of our city.

All rooms have wonderful mountain views (Logic can share with you after coming to a town while traveling I have had my share of parking lot or wall views) however Logic knows that about 30 of these rooms have a view looking south into the wonderful south Palm Canyon plains and mountains (Logic's favorite views) are looking out of these 30 rooms towards Pinion Flats near Idlewild, California.

All rooms and balconies are smoke free. There are smoking areas and ash trays for us smokers, so relax.

A special treat awaits your arrival:

This hotel resort with rooms about 10 that open right onto the pool (small premium charge) area adjacent the picnic area a green grass area featuring barbecues near it for relaxing stay in enjoyment during your stay in Palm Springs.

Now for the treat:

They the friendly staff bake muffins, cookies, and treats available for free to all guests in a nice quant pool side room with a quant patio area for you to enjoy these home made treat is a nice touch.

The room rates vary by season, season being (per Logic) January 15 through April 30.

Paul...I have to second what David says about the Royal Sun. We stayed there a couple of years ago for a few days until our timeshare was ready, and I have to say that I would willingly stay there again. Their catered breakfast by the pool is a real treat, and those home-made waffles are something else!

Caliente Tropics Hotel

Palm Springs

A great hotel even David this sites moderator stayed there in 2007 just after it was remodeled.

The Caliente Tropics Hotel continue to work on this tiki theme resort located just at the end of South Palm Canyon Drive where the road through Palm Springs curves to head you out towards the rest of the Coachella Valley and changes to East Palm Canyon Drive.

Best hotel features are the large cool shaped pool in the center of the action at the Caliente Tropics as well there are grass huts situated with barbecues on a large grass area just off of the pool.

The pool is surrounded by tiki figures and they have fire coming out of them at night.

The next feature is a restaurant located right on property the La Casita Mexican restaurant has the largest menu for a Mexican Restaurant in the Coachella Valley and you will not believe all of the food you can eat here and you get large servings to our surprise this food is really good.

Best Mexican Restaurant feature is their bar the La Casita Cantina is located right on the pool you can sit inside looking out over the pool or outdoors on the patio so you can view the hot bodies in and around the pool. There are always lots of people hanging out for your PsViewing pleasure.

Logic writers Notes

Like we said the entire resort is focused around the pool even cantina and Logic really enjoys eating drinking and socializing at this wonderful Palm Springs style resort a true locals favorite.

It is not that the resort is great it is but it is the people the visitors and the locals all talking and sharing that really brings Logic back to the times when so many different walks of life all hangout having fun from 1 years old to 100 the people make the Caliente Tropics and La Casita Restaurant and Cantina so popular with us. Cool

Palm Springs Hotels that are near the downtown within walking distance of the restaurants and shops along the main street of Palm Canyon Drive.

Mostly located on Belardo Road the street that runs parallel to Palm Canyon Drive one street off the main drag between the San Jacinto Mountains and the Palm Springs main street named Palm Canyon Drive and there are a lot of downtown resorts and inns starting with the Ingleside Inn, Viceroy Resort, Chase Hotel and Palm Mountain Resort all four are located on the west side of Berlardo Road kind of a hotel row in downtown Palm Springs and each is really nice from the lower priced resorts to the high end, it is covered on Belardo Road.

Logic and Catnip visited a hotel a cute little 17 room hotel that is perhaps ran by two of Palm Springs nicest people.

A Place in the Sun is really cute because each room has its own patio each very secluded but if you want to join the other guests there is this court yard with fun walkways in the center of the single story resort adorned with freshly well managed flowers and a giant pool in the center viewable by all 17 rooms.

This hotel is Pet Friendly has kitchens in each room so you can just hangout if you like.

The location is in south Palm Springs the cities best living area and it is about 1 block off of the main street through the city Palm Canyon Drive never the less you can really walk from the hotel and into downtown Palm Springs.

The reason we always mention to take a walk is this is a really safe city and to see more then you ever will form a car walking allows you to see much more of any city in America you are visiting.

One more thing about walking in Palm Springs you are going to be able to say hello to others maybe even make a friend or two it can become habit forming.

Ok last thing about taking a walk in Palm Springs it is romantic you might actually discover more about your partner besides the weather always affords walking in Palm Springs.

Unfortunatly at the Caliente Tropics Resort the one time hangout of Logic and friends restaurant and poolside bar La Casita and La Casita Cantina have closed and moved away.

The hotel Caliente Tropics is still there and there will someday be a new restaurant and bar, lounge or drinking hole so we will have to come back and write about it when something moves into this now empty location.

Logic loved that little poolside bar and taco shop but perhaps something better will soon call this unique restaurant location home.

Looking at some of Logic and Catnip's friends

The ones that own hotels in Palm Springs we are again reminded after driving by A Place In The Sun because it, like Viper Logic are located in South Palm Springs.

Just like our operations center their well maintained Palm Springs Modern resort is so pretty, from the grounds to the rooms and close enough to the action of the main street through Palm Springs downtown and all things Palm Canyon Drive.

This makes staying there a great way to walk to the action of the downtown Palm Springs night life. Cool
