Hello everybody in Logicland,
I totally agree with David. LG’s Prime Steakhouse is absolutely fantastic. I was there many times as I was in Palm Springs for vacation. And by my next visit it is a must to eat there again. I and my boyfriend ate Filet Mignon and as side dish this delicious spinach and sometimes asparagus (the portion size is so huge that it wasn’t always possible to eat all). Well, I can tell you I have never seen before such a huge and mouth-watering steak . As the steak was so huge we mostly ordered one and shared it. So we could eat a side dish as well.
I only can recommend LG’s Prime Steakhouse to everybody who hasn’t been there so far.
VISIT LG’S AND LET CONVINCE YOU HOW DELICIOUS IT IS!!!
I has to stop now because I’m soooooooooooooo hungry ……
I tried to attach a picture of this delicious steak which I made but it didn't work. At the moment I can't attach it. But I will make up for it later
Here I am again and as mentioned in my previous post I finally show you the picture of the delicious steak made at LG's Prime Steakhouse. Yummy!
Well! Isn't it a must to visit LG's for lunch or dinner?
Leon Greenberg, the LG of LG's Prime Steakhouse in Palm Springs, Palm Desert and La Quinta, died Friday. He was 85.
Greenberg, the LG of LG’s Prime Steakhouse in La Quinta, Palm Desert and Palm Springs, died Friday at his home in Palm Desert, surrounded by family.
Gail Greenberg, Greenberg’s wife of 33 years, and chief executive officer and co-owner of the restaurant chain, said while her husband had celebrated his 85th birthday in July, his death still came as a shock.
“I try to tell myself he lived a grand life,” she said, explaining how she’s coping with the loss.
She will continue to direct the operations of all of the restaurants.
Leon Greenberg, who married Gail in 1975, moved his business, Leon Greenberg and Co., from Tarzana to Palm Desert in 1976.
After selling his company to Progressive Insurance in 1988, he retired.
But not for long. At age 68, he started a new career — in the restaurant business.
Hankering for a good steak — something he wasn’t able to find in his adopted desert — he opened his first LG’s Prime Steakhouse in 1991 in Palm Desert’s original Desert Magazine building, considered the oldest commercial building in the city.
The Palm Springs location opened in 1997; the La Quinta restaurant followed in 2002.
Among other honors, LG’s was named to Tom Horan’s Top Ten Steakhouses Hall of Fame for the fifth year in a row in 2009. Horan is a Texas-based food and restaurant critic.
Bill Powers, president of Pacific Western Bank and a member of the Indian Wells City Council, knew Greenberg long before he opened his steakhouses.
“He was the first customer I met when I moved to the desert,” said Powers, who was with Palm Desert National Bank when he met Greenberg in the 1980s. “Our friendship started then and has endured over all of these years.”
Powers made a series of commercials for Pacific Western Bank over the years.
In one of them, he borrowed a sweater from Greenberg — identical to the one worn in his friend’s now-famous commercials — and filmed the commercial in LG’s restaurant.
Afterward, the two teamed up for other commercials — with both men wearing the colorful, Australian-made Coogi sweaters — and Powers forevermore became known as Greenberg’s “Banker Bill.”
Greenberg was well-known in his commercials for his catchphrase: “Come on down and have some dinner with us.”
The commercials where Greenberg appears as a football player, appearing to get flattened by a tackler after he scores a touchdown, gave everyone a chuckle, Powers said.
“He did those on his own,” Powers said. “We’d laugh about it. It was such a fun time.”
Powers last saw his friend a little over a week ago.
Gail Greenberg, who had come in to do some banking, told Powers her husband was waiting outside in the car.
“I told him, ‘we’ve got to get together, the season’s starting’” Powers said, his voice trailing off.
It is a sad day for us who love LG's & a great steak!!!
"Come on down & have some dinner with us!"
