Palmspringsfaninuk....you make an excellent point...I guess I'm just getting too long in the tooth to appreciate the stuff. To be absolutely truthful, if I never see the filty white mess again, it will be too soon....but then again, that's just a personal rant.

BTW, when are you heading for Bayahibe...and do you need someone to carry your bags for you? BigGrin

I'm good thanks at carrying bags, but thanks for the offer. I am off in a couple of weeks for a one week. I have been to the same AI hotel before and it is excellent - cannot wait to go. THe weather looks to good in the late 80's early 90's at that time of year and as long as the rain keeps off, it should great.

I have been to the Dom Rep now quite a times and found it to be great place for a rest. Has anyone else on the forum visited the Dom Rep on vacation ??

Hello LOGIC & all the PS Fans,

Hey I have been going up to the top of the Tramway since I was a kid...and still am at heart... With the warm tempatures in the Coachella Valley this summer...it would be a good time to head up to the Palm Springs Tramway...for a nice hike, dinner, & drinks.. This is a place for all ages. Check it out. I love the Tram in the summer time.

Yes hello David, Logic and Catnip when we first moved into Palm Springs in 1999 we said we would ride the tram one time at least each year and it is like having Disneyland right in our own backyard, but we always manage not to make the 2.5 mile trip to ride the tram.

Perhaps Logic and Catnip are not alone because before moving here to Palm Springs we had Disneyland in Anaheim only 20 minutes from where we grew up and went maybe 2 times in all of those years.

Question is what attractions are in your own backyard but you never go to?

Well, these aren't really in my back yard, but darn close---Magic Mountain is very close, and I have only been there twice in my whole life--both times because someone else wanted to go! I can't stand that place. Some real rowdies hang out there a lot. Plus, I don't find upside-down rides, followed by nausea, to be fun! Sick

Knott's Berry Farm was another place we went only if we wanted to see some rock group who was playing there, or to eat fried chicken (that is GOOOOD stuff!). We took Jimmy there a couple of times as a kid. Disneyland--now, we went there at least once every summer--maybe twice, if things were OK at home financially. My parents weren't nearly as comfortable then, but they always took us at least once each summer. Those are great memories! But as we got into our teen years, we quit going--it wasn't "cool". Wink

There are several places here I never go to--I'm not a big theme park fan. I have never been to Universal Studios. Maybe growing up here made it seem like it was just part of being in LA. I'd rather spend money traveling, starting with Palm Springs!!!!! BigGrin

Remembering when Palm Springs was home to fun youthful places.

Hanging out prior to the past 12 to 15 years of restaurant up scale that has lead to an older crowd (nothing wrong with older) rather then the younger adventurist crowds of persons entering Palm Springs for the first time or returning because they had such a great time or returning with that first love they married after meeting in Palm Springs, California. Cool

They might have like Logic did move here because the climate, places and people showed me a place where Logic could prevail.

There used to be fun nighttime hot spots like Chiller's or Fat Tuesday's a place we think was called the Wolf's Den where young people listened to great load music enjoyed lower cost finger style dining and lower cost drinks and could come as they were dressed to hook up or even just have conversations that would run the gambit if subjects.

There are only three places left not the good ones and two new ones for a total of five for fun and at a cost effective price in or near our downtown main street.

Not sure if these are really the Chiller's that had class but on a budget because these remaining places are truly boring to us, however today what we have instead is dining with too many steak houses that are not doing well after the easy credit money dried up. Those 36.00 dollar steaks ale cart are beginning to age on our wallets.

Could an economic downturn lead to the return of the Spring Breaks.

You remember you hope of our early 80's through early 90's or have all of the aging majority of of Palm Springs residents wanting to forget those action backed, city feeling, profitable times in exchange for the dinner for two 400 to 600.00 dollar dining and go home and sleep times we have become? BigGrin

A story about Villagefest Palm Springs downtown Palm Canyon Drive

What happens when you arrive as a new resident into the Coachella Valley as Catnip and Logic did in August 1999 is you need to find the usual services like a plumber, electrician, pool service, palm tree trimming service, cleaning person and in our case a car service.

So the reason we had it so good upon our arrival was because we had been visitors with local friends since a very young wage. Once you have moved into your Palm Springs home then you have time to venture out to see what is to do in Palm Springs.

We found the now 15 years running Villagefest Street Fair held every Thursday night on Palm Canyon Drive in the heart of Palm Springs. We went the first few weeks then faded not because the Palm Springs event was not good but because the newness wore off. BigGrin

After a few trips to the Villagefest you are over it as it is really the same thing every week though fun basically you only go downtown and particularly on Thursdays because the parking is tough enough on regular days like any city in America. Cool

We recommend you visit Villagefest / Village Fest at least once fresh fruit and vegetables from the local Coachella Valley growers are very good to see, buy and eat.

Villagefest is open each Thursday all year around.

The Villagefest Palm Springs hours are:

October thru May 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM

June thru September 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

In closing on this Palm Springs event (Village Festival Palm Springs) is great for meeting others and when visitors come to town to see Logic and catnip we often share VillageFest with them as something to do there are people serving food to eat while you are enjoying some of the street entertainment and live Palm Springs music.
